INTRODUCTION: The Lord’s Prayer
Jesus’ disciples thought they knew all about prayer until they listened to Jesus pray. It was then that they asked him to teach them how to pray. Jesus did just that.
Over the last ten years, twice a year, we have held Prayer Weeks as a focus for the coming season. One of my reflections is that over time the focus too easily becomes the meetings rather than a period of concerted prayer. Good as each have been, I personally long for a deeper prayer life.
I know I need to come afresh to Jesus and ask him to teach me to pray. What about you?
Has prayer become a routine rather than a necessity? Do you long for a greater intimacy and power in your prayer?
If so, I want to encourage you to join with me next week to learn again from Jesus how to ‘Pray with Hope.’

We will be providing pointers for prayer each day, Monday to Saturday inclusive. My hope is you will use these to pray on your own, with family, friends or colleagues wherever you are.
Our responsibility is to put into practice what Jesus’ says. I want to encourage you to be creative about how you do that.
Finally on Sunday 27th September at 7.30pm will be holding a Zoom Prayer Meeting to close the week. See the church emails for the link.
With much grace
Steve
