We are an all age church based in the heart of the city, made up of people from all backgrounds in life across Winchester and the surrounding area.
We seek to teach, understand and follow the whole message of the Bible, which shows us how we can reconnect with God our Father – our most important need whatever our age.
The great thing about this message is that it’s for everyone and our passion is to share it with the people of Winchester, but also those across the world.
Our Sunday morning meetings have a contemporary feel with modern music and is open to participation from the church. We look to see Word and Spirit working together, by that we mean we come expectant of what God will say to us from his word, the Bible, through the Holy Spirit.
A former member of the church, Reg Hall, wrote a fantastic book giving a short history of the church up to around 2005 called ‘Things Are Different Now’. Click here for a free download, it’s a great read!
Hope Church is led by a team of elders: Steve Chick (lead elder), John Groves, Rob Goulding, Jonathan Lloyd and Jim Cascarini.
Steve moved to Hope Church from Kings Community Church in Hedge End with his wife Annie and has been leading the church since June 2010. He leads a team of Elders who oversee the spiritual life and direction of the church. He is also a Trustee and is responsible for all staff involved in the day to day running of the church.
John was lead elder of Winchester Family Church (now Hope Church) from 2002 until 2010; prior to that he led Kings Church Hastings for 14 years. In addition to his continuing role in the leadership team of Hope Church, John is married to Marian and is actively involved both across the UK and internationally with supporting the Commission family of churches.
Rob originally came to Winchester as a student in the early 1990s, where he met his wife Nel. They both loved Winchester and the church so much they decided to stay. Rob works in Corporate Finance and also recently joined the Leadership Team in Oct 2014 as we became Hope Church Winchester.”
Hope Church is a charitable company limited by guarantee. We run and are involved in a number of groups, activities and courses outside of a normal Sunday morning meeting, all overseen by individuals or couples within the church.
